Each word usually has several possible translations. The program chooses the most appropriate translation according to the general context of the text as well as to the words surrounding the expression to translate. For example the word TRAITEMENT will be translated as TREATMENT if it is a medical text but as PROCESSING if it is a text about computers. The word TREMBLEMENT will be translated as SHIVER if it is linked to the cold, but by TREMOR if it is linked to anger. The software enables the translation of semantic units, for instance MACHINE A ECRIRE will be translated by TYPEWRITER, and ILS DÉPASSENT EN NOMBRE by THEY OUTNUMBER. So the software translates texts literally and contextually. |
